JACKSON, TN (September 28, 2019) – The third annual Tennessee Music Awards event is scheduled for October 7, in Jackson, Tenn., at the University of Memphis Lambuth. Tina Turner will be honored with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award during the festivities. The special announcement was made Saturday, September 28, during Brownsville annual Tina Turner Heritage Days.

The event with feature many independent artists during the VIP Pre-Show and subsequent Tennessee Music Awards show and ceremony. Last year, honorees included Carl Perkins, and W.S. “Fluke” Holland, with the Perkins family, and Fluke himself, in attendance.

Tina Turner is a Tennessee native. Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee. She began her career in 1958 as a featured singer with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm, first recording under the name “Little Ann”. Her introduction to the public as Tina Turner began in 1960 as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue with the single “A Fool In Love.”

Often referred to as “The Queen of Rock and Roll”, Tina Turner’s awards and accolades include:• Ike & Tina Turner induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.• 1993 Legend Award World Music Awards.• In 1996, Turner received the accolade of Légion d’Honneur from the French education minister.• In 2004, People ranked her 1985 performance of “What’s Love Got to Do With It” as one of the Grammy Awards’ top moments, as did Time in 2009.• Turner received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2005.• In 2008, Turner was listed in 17th place on Rolling Stone’s list “The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time”.
