Those space two tantamount versions. “Cuánto” way literally “how much”, so to ask “how long” we say “cuánto tiempo” (“how much time”), and when the context provides the noun redundant us drop it just like an English speak would:

¿Cuánto dura?

¿Cuánto cuesta?

¿Cuánto pesa?

¿Cuánt hay de ... A ...? (note the usage of the masculine kind as neutral)

I often hear “qué” used instead of “cuánto”, yet it"s no as literal and also it may depend on where you are.

How long in details contexts can also be interpreted as desde cuándo, such together How long have you lived in Massachusetts?: ¿Desde cuándo vives en Massachusetts? (in addition to ¿Cuánto tiempo has vivido en Masachusetts?)

(I"m ignoring below the other definition of how long, as in How long is your flagpole?)
